Appearance: Arrives the color of Sangiovese wine with a very modest head; only a spot or two of lacing
Smell: Red wine aromatics with the bold tones of Sangiovese is strong red grape; hard to pick up much beyond the impact of the wine in the aroma
Taste: As with the aroma, the Sangiovese impact overwhelms but the wild ale character does come through, with some funk, leather and oak tones; some acidity in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low carbonation
Overall: A very interesting experiment but I think this particular wine grape doesn't really do the beer any favors - it is just too powerful

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Gold Session. Purple color with pink head. Aroma has fruit preserve juice and wine gums. Taste is tart, fruity, quite juicy and astringent with grape skin bitterness on the finish.

On tap at the brewery. This just didn't work for me at all. The wine and beer clashed into a jarring taste that put me off rather than make me interested in having another sip. After multiple attempts I didn't even finish the glass.

On draft at the taproom. Served in a mini tumbler. Pours a darker reddish body, wine-like with a light half finger white head, fair retention and no lacing. Smell is strong red grape, fairly merlot-like. Moderate tannins, a bit of oak dryness to it. No indication that there is sour beer underneath. Flavour brings out more of the funky wild ale beneath. Light leathery tannin, mild-moderate acetic acidity, touch of grain, light citrus. It all clashes a little bit, but I think mainly because it’s unique in how the strengths of the component beers are presented against each other. It’s actually a bit confusing, to be honest, but not in a bad way. It’s mild in terms of acidity. Mouthfeel is lighter medium bodied, lower carbonation, slightly dry acidity on the finish. Overall, I really liked this newest experiment and so far I think the red wine blends hold a lot of promise compared to the white wine blends.
