After three months of fermentation in our 40hL French oak foeders, we refermented Meerts on over 2 lbs/gal of mangoes and pink guava for an additional six weeks prior to packaging.

Appearance - The beer was yellow in appearance with a big bubbly white head.
Smell - The nose was generally sour with the guava noted.
Taste - The tartness jumped out immediately with the guava leading the way. The mango laid a nice sweet undercurrent. I wanted a bit more mango. The fruit was largely swallowed up by the sourness in the finish.
Mouthfeel - The carbonation was aggressive, which flushed away the sweetness. The body was a bit thin.
Overall - I could not drink a lot of this, but I liked it.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 8/2018. Pours slightly hazy pale golden straw color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy pink guava, mango, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, berries, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, mango, pink guava, oak, and moderate pils/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy pink guava, mango, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, berries, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, wine tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy pink guava, mango, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, berries, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, mango, pink guava, oak, and moderate pils/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with minimal puckering sourness after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, wine tang, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited sour/wild ale! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, mango, pink guava, oak, and moderate pils/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish; not overly lactic. Very flavorful and not watery for the low ABV. Amazingly well rounded barnyard Brett/Bacteria complexity; balanced juicy fruits, and oak foeders; with a nice solid pils/raw wheat malt backbone against acidity. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazingly spot on gueuze-like style example.

On draft. Mini-tumbler glass. Lighter straw yellow body, slight peach hue, one finger white head. Smell is bright guava, a bit of stone fruit, fair bit of sweet mango. Lemon. Touch of leather, maybe oak. Palate is really nice, guava, tropical fruit, stone fruit, touch of lemon, a bit fruit punchy, but fair bit of balance with the acetic acidity. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, good carbonation, and surprisingly drinkable for the acidity it has. The fruit helps balance out the acidity quite a bit, it's great.
