On draft at Funk Factory. Served in a tumbler. Pours a medium reddish pink body, one finger white head, nice retention and lacing. Smell is like dragon fruit and passion fruit. It would seem that the black currant, blackberry and vanilla have come together with the mild acetone of the barrel to give off a sweeter dragon fruit nose, almost like fruit punch. It is a bit less fruitier on the palate, with more of a berry dryness. The barrel is strong here, and not unlike the cognac lambic-style versions like Oude Suiker, 43N, and so on. Medium bodied, has a smooth vanilla finish to it, giving it that namesake characteristic- really quite enjoyable and a nice twist on the standard American sour beer without jumping the shark.
