Kriekenlaan further aged in a Pips Meadery barrel. This bourbon barrel originally held KBBS, but most recently held Presto Chango, their decadent raspberry, vanilla, and cacao nib mead.

Pours a murky, gray-hued, cranberry-cocktail color with a very thin, fizzy that’s gone in an instant and leaves no lacing.
Sour cherry and wood dominate the nose, with some funk behind. The lightest hint of chocolate. There’s a fusel alcohol vapor in there, too.
A traditional sour kreik hits first in the taste, largely following the nose, but with a sweet, smooth vanilla-and-raspberry impression on the backend, which tempers what otherwise would likely be a very tart, acidic beverage and also adds a layer of complexity.
Smooth, medium bodied feel with restrained fizziness.
Very drinkable, layered kriek. I’m not sure all the barrel complexity holds up against the tartness of the base, but it definitely adds to it.
