look: two finger tan coloured head with amazing retention for its strength, does dissipate eventually however, beer is totally jet black, no light bleeding through at all.
smell: dark roasted malt aromas, meaty, black bread, treacle, caramel, not too sweet though, oaky, hint of vanilla, lot of fig, hint of brandy, smells good
taste: malt flavour dominates, black bread, meaty, unami, smokey, tobacco, it’s also earthy, oaky, touch nutty, some caramel, toffee, vanilla, but once again not that sweet, medium bitterness on the finish, solid stuff.
feel: medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated, quite smooth, hides its strength totally, honestly could be half the abv, lingering bitterness on the finish.
overall: quite a good imperial stout here, brewed in collaboration with thebeerclub, this was the last beer of their 2020 advent calendar, definitely one of the stronger offerings.
