A 500ml bottle with a BB of March 2018. Acquired a little while back from ALDI. The label describes it as a session IPA brewed with English and American hops.
A: Poured into a pint mug. A light golden colour with good carbonation and plentiful floating sediment. Looks like coagulated protein. Yields a large head of creamy white foam with a meringue-like consistency and excellent retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Nice lacing.
S: Aroma of fruity hops with hints of light citrus, floral notes, grass/hay, a touch of spice, ale yeast and pale malt. Understated but pleasant.
T: Tastes of crisp, aromatic hops with notes of mild citrus, grass/hay, herbs, subtle floral hints, ale yeast, earthiness and pale malt. Dry, with a well-judged hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and good body. Some light hop oil action on the palate. Aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops, light citrus, ale yeast and faint malt.
O: Surprisingly good - a bright, hoppy ale with nice balance. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour deliver aromatic hops and bitterness. Satisfying body. Goes down a treat. Previous offerings from this brewery have been decidedly underwhelming, so this is a pleasant change of form. Perfect for a hot day - give it a whirl.
