This Oatmeal Rye Stout hits the creamy, chocolatey notes of a classic oatmeal stout with a spicy rye character and a nice clean finish. Just as delicious by the fire or on the patio.

Pours a dark brown color - largely opaque except around the edges where it takes on more of a khaki color. Extremely weak head struggles to form as the beer is poured. It quickly disappears and only some small splotches of bubbles are left around the edges.
Aroma is rather subdued, however some notes of rye bread and cocoa peep through. As it warms you get more of that spicy oatmeal aroma.
Taste is immediately noticeable for having a strong tart twang - notes of tart berry or cherry are noticeable right up front. Once you kind of work your palate past that, you get some nice spicy rye notes, some oats and a hint of cocoa. the cocoa is more noticeable on the back end. Some mild earthy bitterness comes through on the back end.
Feel is thinner, light bodied, pretty easy drinking. Pretty smooth throughout with an abrupt finish.
Overall, I am not sure if that tart twang was intended or not, but I didn't care for it. The rye oatmeal combination however was in theory quite nice for a stout - its just hard to judge how we it worked with that twang.
