Ale and lager fight for supremacy in this rare beer style: this is a dark copper ale but is fermented at colder temperatures like a lager and is more bold than an altbier. Full-bodied, well-hopped and bitter balanced by nutty-malty sweetness with notes of caramel and roasted malts.

On tap at Destihl, quick review from notes.
Bright clarity reddish brown color, compact head of off white foam on the surface.
Aroma was malty first and foremost, with a dry mellow hop presence.
Taste was similar, ample hop bitterness that lingered after the initial chewy and nutty malt flavors. Complex and enjoyable though a little one dimensional. Glad to see Destihl attempt the more unconventional German styles, though the Dampfbier is still the standout to me.
