Very Good
WiLD Sour Series: Piña Colada GoseWiLD Sour Series: Piña Colada Gose
Notes: If you like Piña Coladas, then you're going to love this fun, refreshing take on our Leipzig-style Gose, which is brewed with pineapple and coconut for a tropical twist on this classic sour ale. The combination provides an added layer of sweet, fruity complexity to our Gose that is already known for its tart, citrusy qualities while still balanced by French sea salt and hints of spice from added coriander.

12oz can

this tasted like the green can with some coconut and pineapple candle wax melted in. But it did pull off the Piña Colada taste, which is impressive

Pours a bright effervescent gold with a pinky of beige head, head falls away quickly. Zero head retention & lacing

S: Some pineapple & salt

T: Sour & sweet pineapple, some coconut, salt up front. Salt coriander & pina colada flavors as this warms, plus a little dryness. Finishes tart, salty with some pineapple & coconut

MF: Medium body, minimal carbonation

Well done sour from these guys as per usual, very drinkable

Canned 3/18/20

I enjoy trying all the variants in this series and I love a good pina colada so this should be good

Pours a cloudy straw with 2 quickly fading fingers of white head that leaves a ring of bubbles

Aromas of sweet coconut, light pineapple and mango, with minor notes of green apple and an off note of diacetyl, but not entirely off putting

The taste starts with lightly tart pineapple, quite refreshing. Mid palate and the finish ends with sweet, raw coconut and just a touch of salt, slight lime as well

Light bodied and tart with mild carbonation, this finishes in an odd spot between dry and sticky, just kinda neutral

This one was refreshing and nice for the summer, but nothing super interesting or something I would buy again

Gold in color with a light haziness. There’s no head, but plenty of carbonation bubbles. The aroma is of pineapple and coconut that is clearly muted by the salt. I’m tasting pineapple and coconut with a trace of coriander. The mouth is moderately carbonated and crisp.

Foggy pale yellow with a thin white head that fizzles out to nothing.

Bubbly tart pineapple is smoothed by a coconut vanilla backing as the slick body finishes semi-dry. It's not as sour as some of their other cans, and it features lightly floral, lemony accents.

It must be New Odds & Sods Beer Sunday (Week 746) as I am delving deep into the backlog, pulling out bottles & especially CANs for The CANQuest (tm) & really getting at them! Once the day ends, you will be able to look back at the progression & see that there was actually method to the madness. In the interim, just hang on, it's a wild ride!

I haven't had a new DESTIHL Brewery beer in so long that I was beginning to think that my IL privileges had been revoked! It was making me sad. 8=(

Cheers!"; "Support Flavor/Boycott Bland".

I really familiarized myself with adjunct-driven Goses a week or so ago as I ran through the Evil Twin alphabet series so this will only be a slightly new CANcept for me.

I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent, following some last-minute in-CAN agitation. I was a little surprised when it evinced NE-quality clarity so I eased up & slowly finished my C-Line Glug. It produced just better than a finger of fizzy, foamy, rocky, off-white head with such poor retention that it was gone before I could even blink or say goodbye. Color was a beautiful Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 -5) with the aforementioned NE-quality clarity. The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus was CANflicted since the puck had already dropped in Game 6 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals & they root for the BOS Bruins' black & Gold. They still came into the kitchen for a taste, but they could not wait to get back on my couch. Hmm. Nose smelled like the first time that we pulled into Pearl Harbor - pineapple, coconut & sea salt! 8=O Loads of coconut up front underlain by pineapple & salt just wafting through. 8=O I CANnot believe that they pulled this off! Mouthfeel was thin & watery, but that is par for the course. The salty tartness hit my tongue's beachhead like the 82nd Division at Normandy on D-Day, scrubbing up the dead & weak taste buds for the advance of the seCANd wave. Here came the pineapple & coconut to the rescue, rappelling up the sides & into my sinuses! I wanted to surrender, but coriander would have none of it & detonated a grenade that blew out part of my throat. 8=( This was no playin' around, boys! You might think that this CANbination of adjuncts might equal some girly day at the beach, but only if she sports camo & carries a BAR! Phew. Oh, man, when Evil Twin gets to P, let it be P Is For Piña Colada or at the very least, P Is For Pineapple. Finish was amazingly dry & slightly spicy to acCANpony the tartness. Yum. I was pleasantly ambushed by this one. YMMV.

12 oz. can - canned on 05/10/19:

Pours light yellow with a fizzy white head that disappears. Minimal lacing.

The smell is of tart citrus. The pina colada is not strong.

The taste is of pineapple, coconut, salt. Tart with a subtle hint of coriander. Pineapple in the aftertaste.

It is spritzy, light. Pretty refreshing.

An interesting brew. One is enough at a time. After that it starts to be too much like suntan lotion. I had recently told a friend that I was in the mood for a pina colada, but I prefer beer - well here it is!

Pours a straw yellow with a quickly receding foam. No lace. Par for the style. Smells delicious pineapple and lightly coconut, coriander and citrus. Like a beach more or less. Taste is moderately astringent up front with early and mid notes of coconut, pineapple, citrus then late salt and coriander. Medium light body. Overall this is a tasty gose. The coconut and pineapple elements add to the refreshing flavor. Enjoyed and would drink more. I haven’t had an unenjoyable Wild Sour Series yet!

F - light body with high carb.

O - too artificial.

By far, my favorite sour!! It is definitely my “go to” beer when warm weather hits. It smells wonderful and has a very distinctive pineapple/coconut flavor....but I do have to admit that I like it better on draft than in a can. I can’t get enough of this sour!!

5 oz pour on tap. Pours a pale straw yellow with fizzy bubbles and little head. Smells and tastes like a sour piña colada. Tasty, but not complex at all.

This beer pours a clear gold with a modest head. The aroma is bright and tart, with a touch of cream, cheese rind(kind of vomit like, but in a good way) cococnut, and pineapple. The flavor is quite sour with bold coconut and pineapple in good balance, and some citrus peel on the end. The mouthfeel is very light and slightly astringent, with brisk carbonation. Overall, this is one of the better wild sours, and the promised flavors come through beautifully.

12oz can. Poured out a slightly cloudy, straw-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of coconut, pineapple and wheat. Salty with coconut, pineapple and sweet wheat.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that quickly died disown, leaving delicate wisps of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of coconuts are present in the nose along with hints of pineapples.
T: The taste is a little sour and has flavors of coconuts along with notes of pineapples and hints of saltiness.
M: It feels light-bodied and a little tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer feels like it could use a bit more pineapples to balance out the piña colada taste. I did enjoy the coconut flavors, which definitely made this feel tropical.

A well put together Gose with the addition of a nice little pina colada character that is very subtle. it just dances in the background on the beginning and end of each sip. The coconut and pineapple are perfectly balanced.
My one complaint is that the mouthfeel is a little aggressive. you feel the tartness more than taste it, which isnt the most pleasant thing. A bit more softness would be welcome

In general, it's nothing amazing, but well done.
