picked this up from the local craft brewer. great place. their website and their menu had this beer being released on the 17th but the bartender said it had just been tapped that day (14th). i guess it pays to ask. i do not know if this was from the bourbon barrel itself, but it was on tap. growler into an imerial pint glass. color of night. no seeing through this. very thin head which disappears. would be interesting to see this beer on nitro. looks good.
chocolate and coffee aroma. no off odors.
has the coffee and chocolate up front. get some toasty notes. has that liquor presence without the burn. warm bourbon and chocolate aftertaste.
full bodied beer. low carbonation. very smooth. no lace. i like this beer a lot. i really did not miss the carbonation. i did not expect much carbonation from a cask beer though. i could drink a lot of this beer. i would love to drink again but it is out of my frequent flier budget. fairly pricey beer- but worth picking up a growler. my first bourbon barrel beer. follows style. i dig it.
