crazy light colored brew, a fun one for fall, not sure there is real fruit in this, its like an apple candy to me all the way, even without the overall beer being all that sweet. its not super highly dosed either, but the base beer is so light on the grain side and seemingly not hopped at all, so whats here does stand out, come to the fore early, and linger late. i like that its not all packed with vanilla, brown sugar, all that extra desserty stuff, the apple and cinnamon and lactose is enough, and while i thought the sourness would be a turnoff for this cozy festive them, its well restrained and it works, especially compared to some of the other acid bombs in this series! the faintest pils malt note here, maybe some pale wheat too, but light as can be in terms of grain, and aside from flattering lemony tang, the sourness and overall ferment are clean to me. the apple is red and sweet, lightly baked to me, and the cinnamon is warming and wintery, not bitter or overdone at all, and fading slowly after each sip. the lactose isnt too much but does add a candied richness to it, and there is a honey taste to the center as well, white sugar, but overall its not over the top sweet, like it doesnt stay on my teeth or anything, even with it being rather minimally carbonated. a little flat and minimal overall, but it does in fact taste like tart apple pie, so mission accomplished, but this could use some substance and a little bit more beer character on the whole. this series has been really up and down for me over the years, not even consistent as a base, this is a little lackluster but it tastes nice this time of year, fun one to share around.
