Deadhead IPA Series: The Haze Between

Copenhagen 16/12 2023. 47,3 cl can from N'Bro Kiosken, Nørrebrogade, Kbh. N. Grateful Dead style can with a Skull sporting a full beard and intricate patterns in blue, orange and green.

Pours opaque hazy golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as thin layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet odor of Stone fruit mingling with citrus fruit and pine trees. Sweet peach and pineapple. Grapefruit. Resin.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed and balanced by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a while. Finish is dry.

Fine and smooth NEIPA.

 

Nice, clean. I prefer a little darker, more orange look and heavier mouth feel. Liked it pretty well anyway.

The deadhead series, man. It should feature patchouli tasting hops, and it should smell like underarm and bad weed. It's sadly pretty close. Sweet, citrus, slick with hop oil. Eh...

 

 

 

 

Poured from a can

Appearance - Pale straw yellow body beneath a soapy thick head that minimizes to wispy thin foam
Smell - Citrus and pineapple
Taste - Citrus and grapefruits, mild and not to pretentious, mild bitterness bite finishes and lingers
Feel - medium body, medium carbonation, nice bitterness balance
Overall - Being not a huge fan of IPA’s this is a great IPA that I thoroughly enjoyed. Not in your face taste, not overpowering bitterness. Just an enjoyable beer.

 

Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy light golden color with a strong white head. (3.75)

Aroma: Strong aromas of orange, tangerine, pineapple, flowers. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of tropical orange and sweet pineapple. Balanced and juicy on the finish with light flower. Leans dry. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation and relatively clean. (4.25)

Compared to Illuminated Brew Works Double Ripped Hasselhopf 12/2022: Pours lighter, stronger aromas. More citrus, floral and lighter pineapple. Less resinous tangerine and sweet pineapple. Lighter and cleaner.

Overall: A nice showcase of the citra, pineapple, and some floral notes. Not too sweet and very drinkable. (Rating: 4.01)

This beer was on tap at our local pizza place. Poured into a shaker pint. Hazy light yellow color with foamy white head and good curtain lacing. Pleasant citrus smell. Citrus taste as well but with a slight unpleasant sharpness. Grapefruit and lime. This beer would go well with pizza.
