crazy alcohol, would be better in a bottle than a pint can, but i guess this makes us drink it fairly fresh, which i am learning over and over again with these is the way to go instead of cellaring them. a dude from our tasting group remarked that this smells like the samoas girl scout cookie, and he sure is right, huge caramels and dark chocolate with obvious toasted coconut character, that must be what the natural flavors are from the label. i also dont get why everyone puts cinnamon in smore beer these days, where i grew up it was chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmallow, no cinnamon about it, but it works here, just kind of out front enough in aroma and flavor that its hard to ever really think about this like a smore profile, at least for me. the beer is less thick than expected for what it is, not as leggy or dense for this strength and being barrel aged. the nose doesnt show much barrel either, but its boozy and loaded with sugars, long boiled must be, some licorice and cocoa nuance, some bitter roast, warming coffee, and the girl scout cookie complexion. the flavor is similar, nutty for a flash, black coffee, toffee, bran muffin, maple, german chocolate cake, and some needed bitterness, earth, and iight smoke for some contrast late. the alcohol is dominant but its not very whiskey forward and i dont get a ton of oak, just light vanilla, this could be blended with some fresh stout perhaps. neat beer overall, cool variant, but i like the unflavored takes on this a little bit more. fun to share with the group, nothing like the smores i know, but tasty nevertheless!

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a good-sized, light brown head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of chocolate, graham cracker, marshmallow, bourbon and oak. Sweet chocolate, toffee/caramel with a strong bourbon presence.

Pours from a 16oz can a fairly dark brown color, not the darkest stout by any means. Sits nearly opaque with a big mocha head that fizzles out almost immediately. Adjuncts poke through the on the nose, abundant vanilla and graham cracker, sweetness, toffee, bourbon. The palate is a bit boozy to be honest, with a touch more cinnamon/spicy burn than I prefer. Overall its good but not great in my opinion.

This adjunct had the distinctive bourbon taste of the original with the addition of marshmallows, cacao nibs and cinnamon. It’s a very solid, boozey stout.
