On-tap at Destihl Bloomington/Normal. Poured into taster.
A - Pours black, mocha-colored head, wisps, spotty lace.
S - Infected. The chocolate and roast are there, but quickly overtaken by some lactic acidic notes. The bourbon barrels are very subtle and also overshadowed by the sourness. Ugh.
T - Infected. Chocolate, roast, infection, some oak, some bourbon. The sour notes aren't too bad, but they work against a beer that is really good without the barrel-aging.
M - Medium, good carbonation, creamy tart finish.
O - I love the regular Black Angel Stout, so I was really disappointed that this beer was infected. I hope they try this one again, because I really want to try a version of this beer that's not sour. That said, it's not a bad beer, by any means...I just know what this beer could be.
