Railhead Brewing Co.

Cool little place on the southern end of town, probably once a residence. Small L-shaped bar perpendicular to the left of the entrance seats about a dozen, with 3 or 5 tables about the room and an outdoor patio on the side of the building. 8 beers on tap, I had the brown and the dunkel, both very nice. I also had one of there wood fired pizzas which was good. Friendly bartender.

 

I was extremely impressed with Railhead. Building does not appear to be very old, but has plenty of character which is important to me. Bar is beautiful and entire place is spotless. I tried the flight and picked the 3 Railhead beers available - American Wheat, Alt, Humble Beeginnings (a slightly tart Belgian beer made with honey). For the 4th I got Abandon's Pale Ale (1 of 3 guest taps of 2 beers and 1 cider). I liked the tart beer the most,but all were solid offerings.

Spoke with one of the owners who explained that they need to increase production before canning. That was apparent given they only have 3 of their own beers on tap and he said it would be 6 weeks before IPA would be available. The selection was the only rating I gave them below 5 (a 4.5), but they are a new brewery and I can understand starting out slow and ramping up production. Given they have guest taps it shows they are compensating for that.

These guys have their act together and I look forward to future visits and increased production.

 

Just recently opened. Limited beers, but what they have is good.Brown Ale, Wheat beer, Belgian Pale Ale ... a good start. I believe they have added an IPA and an alt beer since my visit. Nice little set up with brick oven pizzas as well as good beer.
