Solid black appearance.
Just above average body with medium light carbonation. Has a bit of creamy, slightly oily feel.
Aroma is a really rich mix of roasted malt, dark chocolate, mocha candy, black coffee, some wood and earthy wood
.
Taste is malty, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, with a little dry bitter bakers chocolate.
This was probably the best thing that I've had from forgotten boardwalk. Really well done imperial stout with a high abv that is really well hidden.

This Russian imperial stout is a delight to sit down and crack open. Purchased a 16 oz can dated fresh until 7 / 19.

Smooth a reasonable head with minor lacing, dark black in his complexion, definite chocolate and coffee undertones, Maybe overtures, I agree with the previous reviewer not necessarily A sipper, but one you can drink as long as your Constitution can stand the 10. 3% alcohol by volume. Definitely will buy again and absolutely will keep in the fridge whenever available.

If you are stout / dark beer fan this is one who want try. Hat's off to the Forgotten Boardwalk Brewery!

Poured from undated can into a pint glass. It pours almost ink black with dark cola/walnut hues at the top and bottom of the glass, and a creamy, light mocha head and thin sheen of lacing. On the nose there is coffee, roasted malt, nuts, earthy peat, and a whiff of dark cherry. It's really aromatic. The taste is really roasty with lots of malt, freshly-brewed coffee, cocoa, black cherry, and a hint of char and tobacco smoke. As the glass warms the chocolate becomes more pronounced. It's not sophisticated but each flavor is easily distinguishable and they blend nicely. It has a nice, creamy mouth feel, fairly chewy, with pleasant carbonation, and a warming 10.3% ABV that's rather deceptive. Although this is a big RIS, it's not necessarily a sipper. It would pair well with a hearty meal. This is a nicely-crafted RIS. While clearly a notch below the leaders of the style, such aa Ten Fidy, FIS, Dark Lord, and Expedition, it is really quite good. I would definitely drink it again.

Forgotten Boardwalk Brewing "Gravity Road Imperial Stout"
750 ml brown glass bottle, corked & caged, without production codes or freshness dating.
$15 at the brewery on 11/24/18

Look: Absolutely opaque black body beneath a two-finger thick head of tan foam that settles into a half-finger thick of densely creamy foam. Solid lacing is left about the glass.

Smell: Roasty, fruity (currant), alcohol, malty - a little like Ovaltine.

Taste: Roasty, fruity (currant, red berries, apple), sharp with dark malt acidity and alcohol. Caramel nougat, bittersweet chocolate, and some dull, earthy, grassy, and leafy hops. Very firmly bitter but not brash, and then dry in the finish with acidity and roastiness and tobacco lingering.

Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.

Overall: Aggressive but not over the edge, it takes its dark malts about as far as they can go before acquiring too much dark malt acidity. For lovers of heavily roasted coffee this one is for you.
