Pours very dark brown with a bubbly tall cream head on the edge of acceptable carbonation. Very mild roast and chocolate flavor along with a lighter-bodied feel. The roast though mild lingers nicely through the finish, along with an understated grassy hop flavor. A mild beer all the way around. And if you're a fan of robust flavor, a little lightweight.

I am admitted fan of Black Lagers and NJ beers. It's the water plus our underdog attitude.
a) Ample lace over black brown body.
s) plenty of wood fire, smoke, malt, coffee,
t) all the above, plus prune and dark fruit, sweet but amply balanced by bitter.
f) Clean, good food beer, aromatic.
o) As good as any black lager on the block.

16 oz can. Pours dark brown with tall, long-lasting, foamy, off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of toasted malt and grassy hops. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste of toasted malt, toffee and grassy hops. Finish is long and dry. OK brew.

An almost solid black/brown appearance.
About an average body with also about average carbonation but an overall nice body.
Aroma is wood, mild smoke, malt, roasted malt, dark fruit, and some fresh made black coffee.
Taste is very similar to aroma, very mild sweetness with an equally mild dry hop bitter finish. Theres some smokey wood with bakers dark chocolate and black coffee.
A really good beer from a brewery that flies under the radar.
