A - Clear golden body, short head, lots of lacing. Beautiful beer.

S - Moderate spicy nose, a bit of funk.

T - Mild peppery hit, grass and a bit of pine, cracker malts, and bitterness in the close.

M - Prickly on the tongue, a bit of drying on the close.

O - A good looking brew, but the flavor is not really to my liking.

What a disappointment! The initial taste brings a wave of IPA flavors - hints of grapefruit, pine, citrus, etc... Only to be inundated by the bitterness I associate with cheap beer. Some of this bitterness may come from the CO2; this is the fizziest beer I've had, out of at least 100, but, it really does seem like they mixed some cheap beer with a really nice IPA.

Ghost Ship pours a hazy golden color with a small, but lacing head. Very spicy aroma, with lots of coriander notes. Taste is citruses, lots of coriander, and just a slight bitter finish. Good body and feel. Overall, not much of an IPA, but the sweet is nicely balanced by the bitterness.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, light spices. Taste is citrus, some malts, hints of spice, mild bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a smooth and easy drinking and beer.

Does not resemble an IPA to me, and the good wheat beer aspects don't come through either. I had high expectations, hoped for a Belgium like IPA. It was more of an "off" slightly English hopped American wheat beer.

Aroma is mild with a bit of hops and malt. Appearance is a dirty amber with a fairly long lasting head. Flavor's stale hops, malt, bittersweet with a little tang. Off flavors in the finish.

L: Pours straw gold with a slight haze under a 1” rapidly receding off-white foam collar.

S: Spice, citrus, light grains, fruit, orange and grapefruit. The fruit aromas are medium to medium high, the malt aromas are medium to medium low.

T: Begins with spice and light grains developing into a fine balance of spice, fruit, citrus and grapefruit over a malt backbone of light wheat and sweet malt. Has a grapefruit rind bitterness and a lingering fruit bitterness. The hop driven and added fruit flavors are medium to medium high, the malt flavors are medium.

F: Medium to medium light body and medium high carbonation.

O: This is a very drinkable American Wheat ale that is a little more hop forward than most with an interesting balance of flavors.
