We took two barrels of Buffalo Trace's finest bourbon. Both barrels were filled with King George Wee Heavy Scotch Ale to age for 8 months before bottling. This Wee Heavy Scotch Ale has a rich backbone of caramel, toffee, and roasty malt flavors with hints of cherrywood smoke on the finish. Barrel aging lends its complex flavors of vanilla, molasses, oak and of course, bourbon.

Poured 22oz bottle into snifter. Color is a very deep and dark copper with ruby accents. A tan colored thin head forms and fades quickly. Lacing is very minimal and spotty on my glass. A nice caramel maltiness emanates along with toffee and a hint of vanilla. Malts are lightly roasted and there is just a touch of charred wood. The roasted malts are fairly mild along with heavy caramel, toffee, a bit of vanilla and bourbon. A light smokiness and very subtle hints of dark fruit sweetness. Feel is medium with faint carbonation. This turned out to be a bit better than the base beer, which I had a few years ago. The barrel aging did not overpower the base only complimented it.
