Medium brown body and
Flavors are cherry and sweet malts and some subtle hops. Carbonation is light. Rustic would be a good term for this.
Very smooth and easy drinking.

this is awfully good, the best i have had from meadowlark, and sort of blending some style elements but in a gorgeous and intriguing not sloppy or ignorant manner. i had no idea this was aged on oak until i took my first smell of the deep mahogany liquid, its insanely oak forward, must have been done on spirals or something not barrels, its like a new toasted wood thing, vanilla and honey and earth, awesome in the nose and even better in the flavor. i love the deep malt complexion this has, more like a belgian dubbel than a biere de garde, richer and sweeter, that dried red fruits and berries thing, like molasses too, an abbey type malt i would think. long boiled too and concentrated tasting, like barleywine or something, really pretty cool. its sweet, but all of this wood keeps it grounded well. i get bourbon and toffee and red apple and port wine, lots going on here, decadent and smooth, complex, and just a really brilliant beer overall. a new high point for meadowlark for sure, and one of the best beers i had on my recent trip to montana!
