Smooth and crisp. I could drink a lot of them.

Pours a hazy, copper color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of alcohol, strong sweet malt, slight earthy malt, hint of caramel malt, slight yeast, and citrus hops. Fits the style of an American Double / Imperial IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, alcohol, citrus hops, hint of yeast, hint of earthy malt, and a hint of caramel malt. Overall, good appearance, but the blend is off (too much earthy malt), and lacking in complexity.

4pk, pours deep amber orange. Loads of smell. Fruity IPA with heavy malt. One of the finest IPAs in the state. I always stock in my fridge. Wish he would can this one. Deserves the can treatment.

Look: Drank from bottle, didn't see it.
Smell: Definitely a fruity/hoppy smell. A little different than your everyday IPA.
Taste: Not what I expected from an IPA. Flavorful and fruity.
Feel: Feels good. Smooth for an IPA.
Overall: Good beer. Possible rebuy. Time will tell.

With the fine brewers at Moody Brews getting their feet under them, their ambitious imperial IPA jumps out with the piquant hoppiness that's expected of standard India pale, and with the body, full flavor and balance that's true to form for its imperial cousin.
Dark amber, hedging on hazy bronze- the beer's high froth blankets the rim with dense and cakey foam. Its nose is redolent of toasted caramel, candied apple and cinnamon-free french toast. With a backdrop of grapefruit, orange and pine, its maltier upstart gives the early palate a toasty-sweet balance.
As the sweetness wavers across the middle, the hops project- deliver not only pink grapefruit and the taste of freshly zested oranges, but their associated bitterness grows to dominate the waning sweetness. As apple and caramel remain, they provide both balance and distraction to the beer's trending bitterness of pine, grass and flavorful sassafras.
Its medium-full body trails with continuing dryness which highlights its hop bitterness. With slim margins of malt lingering, a light maltiness brings life to hints of butterscotch and apple in aftertaste- both keeping the beer from the clean and crisp finish that's preferred.
