Pours a black color. 3/2 inch head of a tan color. Great retention and decent lacing. Smells of alcohol, strong Belgian yeast, slight hops, slight roasted malt, hint of chocolate, and a hint of dark citrus. Fits the style of a Belgian Dark Ale, but the bottle classifies it as a Porter (which it also fits into). Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonatIon level. Tastes of wheat, slight roasted malt, sweet malt, slight alcohol, hint of yeast, and slight metallic. Overall, too carbonated, great aroma though, but sadly the body is much weaker and has a few unpleasant characteristics.

Look - Dark. Decent head. Expected.

Nose - Raisins, chocolate, and dark stone fruit.

Taste - Dark, bread notes. Cherries, plums. Cooked apples? Other spices that mingle with the sweetness--especially on the tail end.

Feel - Full and rich up front, but it thins out on the pallet.

12 oz bottle, snifter

A – Very deep, dense mahogany, the color of red grape juice where the light passes through, and thick opaque reddish-brown elsewhere. Clear where the glass is narrow enough to see through the liquid. A half-inch of dark tan foamy head, with moderate-low retention.

S – Cherry cola, a sweet, syrupy profile with fruit bursting through. Some mild chocolate and light toast. Perhaps some earthy hops and then slightly spicy yeast notes.

T – Milk and baking chocolate, with a touch of dark fruit, cherry or plum-like. Toast and a bit of that cola flavor. Hops not really noticeable, and just the lightest peppery spice from the yeast.

M – Richly carbonated and full-bodied, a fluffy mouthfeel, a lot of contribution from the oats. Very sweet, but nowhere close to cloying, cut through and balanced by the carbonation. Alcohol is completely hidden.

O – Everything great about porter, Belgian beers, and chocolate rolled into one, the best Arkansas-based beer I’ve had (brewed in OK). I could drink this until it knocks me out, which wouldn’t be long; I would have no idea how strong this was without reading the label.

Pours mahogany with a finger of tan head.Above average lacing & average head retention

S: Figs, jammyness

T: Follows the nose, some carob & licorice hiding the background in the fore taste. Carobs, figs, raisins as this warms, a little vanilla & cocoa & smokeyness. Finishes dry, fruity & jammy

MF: Light/medium bodied, fairly light carbonation

Drinks okay at best, this beer doesn't work for me, meh at best
