Think I may have gotten this beer in the 2023 advent beer calendar pack from Costco. Have always liked German Beers and this one is no exception.

Appearance: Pale gold with excellent clarity. Pours a large white frothy foam stand with excellent retention.
Nose: Light uncooked bread dough and water cracker malt, low cooked corn dms, very low earthy hop aroma with subtle spice. Clean lager fermentation character.
Palate: medium carbonation, light bodied, medium alcohol, low bitterness, light cracker and bread dough malt flavor with a nice low spicy earthy hop flavor in the background. Soft water profile with a medium length finish of sweet doughy malt.
Super drinkable, hits all the session helles boxes, i could crush one after the other!

Look is a straw yellow.
Smell from the can is berries. In a glass, more grass comes through.
Taste is a straightforward malt with slight bitterness afterwards. Nothing from the smell really coming through for me. Body has little carbonation and is more watery than I'd want. I wish there was more depth or length to the flavour profile.
Overall, this beer is giving me nothing. Not offensive, but not one I'd get again.

12 Days of Christmas #3
Beer number 2 from Aldi Australia's 2023 Christmas Beer pack, courtesy of Kalea. I'm not doing these beers in order
Vessel: 500ml Pint can, dark green label with white gothic/tutonic style font.
Appearance: Dark rich orange colour, almost amber in appearance. Thin frothy head settles atop the beer. Darkest Helles I've seen. Like the other 2 beers in this series, the beer is extremely hazy, and reminds of of a Central West NSW sunset.
Aroma: Dark berries, cherries blackcurrant. Actually smells a bit like Ribena. Syrupy sweet Ribena. It's a very sweet smell. Not getting any floral or grassy hop notes. But smells interesting.
Taste: Sweet, very sweet. Taste not following the nose - not really Berry or blackcurrant sweetness, but there's a lot of malt giving a strong sweet flavour. Practically no bitterness, and like the nose not getting much of a floral or grassy hop element. There is a slight spice to the beer at the back of the mouth post-swallow.
Feel: Good mouthfeel. Not watery and very sessionable. The maltiness allows it to be a smooth sessionable sipper.
Overall: An interesting beer. Not entirely what I was expecting but it's still a good beer. The Germans don't know how to make bad beer. It's a bit different, but very enjoyable.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and cleansing.
Overall, decent, sessionable. Refreshing. Worth a try.

500ml can, stange glass, expires May 2023.
Lightly hazed light golden with a tall white head.
Sweet corn, DMS, small peppery note.
Up front is more of a savory corn cake and malt with a peppery and stoutly bitter finish.
Light-medium body, medium-high carbonation, and nicely crisp.
I think this is a worthwhile Helles that I could drink by the liter!

Pours a rich, clear yellow with plenty of visible carbonation. Bright white head starts out very strong and persists quite well. Smell is sweet grain, hint of grassy hops. Taste is very crisp, smooth, lightly malty. Floral and grassy hop flavor appears in the aftertaste. Overall, this is a pretty good Helles, a little light on flavor but with very good appearance and feel.

so sick to go to the BA page of an unfamiliar german brewery and see that they make four different helles lagers, what a life! this one rules, among my favorites in the advent calendar box thus far, and im close to done with it. strikingly light, even compared to others in this box, looks less than yellow, slightly less than all the way clear but it looks awesome, frothy headed, obviously effervescent in my little lager glass, so light and bright, i already know this is going to be good. the nose and taste are the same, which is awesome because the nose rules. the malt is obviously german, as is the lager yeast, but its lighter than biscuity, none of that baked character, not warm then, but ice cold. slightly sweet, but not neutral, and some late hops, but delicate. this is better frosty than after it sits awhile, but there is a tidiness and freshness to this that so many others from the advent pack have lacked, and it jumps out at me with this one. clover flower, spring grass, light copper minerality, lemon, gorgeous white bread thing to the malt, not raw or doughy, trace honey sweetness in the center before the swallow, and then rushing carbonation that washes it all clean, lovely. light body but exciting beer, refreshing but not just a pounder either. one of the few from this box that makes me extra keen to track down more from the brewer. this is wonderful helles, a top notch example of the style, dynamic while also being subtle. endlessly drinkable! grossly underrated here on BA...

Gold in color with a quarter inch of of eggshell white on top. Light, spidery lacing. The aroma is of grassy hops and light, crackery malt. I’m tasting lightly grassy and earthy hops along with light, crackery malt. The mouth is very crisp and light.
