Braven’s flagship beer, like its Co-Founders, lives just a step off the beaten path. A delicious blend of two distinct styles, Braven White delivers the hoppy bite of an American IPA that’s balanced by the soft wheat character and hints of spice of a Belgian White. Our unique White IPA offers maximum character and flavor in every easy-to-drink pint.

Slightly hazy, pale golden. Wheat malt, herbs , pine and vegetables in aroma. Malty beginning is balanced by sharp, grapefruit like bitterness. Very uneven beer

Had a few on tap last night while out to dinner, it pours cloudy/hazy gold with a nice white head that faded and left very nice lacing and rings as it went down. Smells more like a Belgian or wit bier with peppery spices, wheat, earthy notes, lemon and toasted grains more dominant than the hoppy notes. The flavor is a bit more hoppy (which I very much liked) with a slight bitterness that balances the spices, wheat and grainy aspects. It's fairly complex and easy to drink.

Impression from a bottle bought at a grocer in Brooklyn:
I dig the leavening wheat malt presence, but I find no spices in the build. Hop profile is mediocre; hop selection probably wasn't great. It leans floral but ends up too bitter and lacks depth of flavour.

On tap at the Wicked Monk in Bay Ridge on Saturday 4/16/16. Looks crystal clear in the pint glass; this is deceptive as there is a lot more body and flavor present than one would think! I did not get spice flavor just a very balanced subtle and welcome hop presence.

On tap. Light yellow like a macro lager, but some nice lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell is mild but inviting. I get floral hops, a little citrus and some pepper. Easy-drinking...frankly a bit boring though. Tastes pretty similar to the Blue Moon White IPA. I could use some more fruitiness or juicy hops in the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Low bitterness, I'd guess 30 IBU.
Not a bad beer but probably not one I'd order again. 7/10
