Date stamped "05 09 14" on the bottle, one of three beer presents a good friend brought to Alabama from Germany.

It pours a cloudy, golden-orange color with a respectable two-finger, starch-white head. Sour lemon scents, yeast, orange zest, a bit of spent grain funk, some mineral, too. This one's a fairly clean hefeweizen taste-wise, with more fruit flavors: orange, cantaloup, some lemon. Smooth, too, with little to no hoppiness. There's a faint champagne quality to it, flavor- and scent-wise, and it's delicate. The flavors don't linger, except for a bit of orange rind, grass, spent grain. The head goes down to a 1/2 inch, but there's some significant lacing; well, 1/3 of my glass is coated. If it weren't cool outside, then this would be a very refreshing beer on a warm day.

Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Bottle from mixed half rack at Edeka. Cloudy, golden pour, instant fluffy head, which soon subsides. Normal weizen aroma of bananas, bubblegum and clove. taste and feel are a bit less than the usual, possibly due to the open fermentation, but it also has a lighter, effervescent character as well

500ml bottle. Mindestens haltbar bis: 14.04.12.

It pours an archetypal hefe-weien color with a nice bit of cloudiness and an eggshell-white head. The head sticks for a bit and recedes with some nice lacing.

The smell is utterly different from a normal hefeweizen. It smells more like champagne than clovey and lemony. There is some sweet banana and caramel in the mix too. I’ll rate it higher for uniqueness, it does smell good regardless.

The mouthfeel is rather flat which is the first downfall of this brew. The second is the flavor, definitely dominated by Sekthefe. It is a bit spicy but overall it taste very light and tame, maybe they were going for that but I don’t enjoy it.

.5L, best before 11/4/11. Not a Kristallweizen, but rather a normal Hefeweizen.

Pours a cloudy, very light orange. The head is good to start, but the retention is average, the lacing minimal.

Aroma is pleasantly fruity and powdery floral. Touch of clove.

Flavor is sadly watered-down, though yeasty. There's good spiciness, some bread, and then phenolic plastic on the finish. The lightly fruity tang is refreshing as well, but this Hefeweizen still lacks depth and fullness in the end. The mouthfeel is spritzy, with fine carbonation.

Decent Hefeweizen with some good qualities, but in the end it does not measure up with the best the style has to offer.

Grabbed this brew yesterday on my way home, studying brewing all day sure does work up a thirst for a bier! Bottled dated 17/6/10
I wasn't aware this was a Kristallweizen before I got it home, label makes you think this could be a Keller/Zwickel bier
Upon pouring the bier, does not look at all like a Kristall-Weizen. This brew is slightly orange-light malt toned, murky, thick, producing a fluffy, rocky, Hefe-like head, leaving lots of lacing, taking a long time to settle. If I had to judge this by eye, I would call it a Hefe.
Smell is slightly musty, a bit yeasty-funky(a good thing). Alot of lemony/tangerine citrusy notes come through immediatly, light toasted maltiness, a light hop bitterness on the finish. Overall a bit restrained, but exactly like a Kristall Weizen should be-a light, filtered Hefe.
Flavor is better than expected. It has a pretty sour flavor profile upfront, which I find interesting and suprisingly good. The lemony tartness gives way to light malt grainess, bitter hops and a light spritzy finish.Your tongue is left tingling with the light carbonation, and makes it an easy drinker.
Not extrodinarily standoutish, bt then again this is not a ground-breaking style. I actually find it to be one of my favorite Kristall-weisse biers to date. Good find

Best before 29-09-06 so must be quiet fresh. Pours in ok with nice white head and bronzegolden color. Slight haze in it but thats probably because its a kellerweizen.
Says further on the label 1st patented Weizenbier and guess its because it has the sekt yeast in it.
Nose is litle strange but weizen like with the regular banana but is more sour in arome than a weissbier usually is. Further hints of malt and a slight medical note.
Taste is far more sour then the weizen normaly is what realy must be the work of this used champagne yeast. Further a regular weizen with wheattaste, full and malty but again less sweet. Aftertaste has litle hops but sour taste seems to dominate. Good brew; something else as the usual weizenbrew so in my opinion always worth a try.
