Pours clear, dark brown in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is big bourbon and Tootsie Roll. Medium body, low carbonation, slightly sweet. Remember when barrel Aged beer was all the rage...whiskey, bourbon and good barrel. I would have thought hey this is good...now it just tastes one note and dated. Not bad but average. I like Big Ditch but not my favorite.

Thanks to bstoos for this one. 12oz bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color with less than 1/4 inch of tan head that had low retention and lacing.
The aroma had a blast of coconut right upfront, the expected solid malts in the middle, and some alcohol at the back end. Very similar on the tongue, although the coconut seemed a bit more subdued.
The body was a bit thin for the style, smooth, and had a semi-sweet finish. Drinkability was very good, a smooth, easy sipper. Overall, a very nice beer. Worth trying if you see it.

Bottle pour at the brewery:
Pours midnight black with little to no head. I try to conjure a head with some vigorous swirling, to no avail. I get heavy bourbon notes on the nose, some dark chocolate, dark fruit and roast. On the palate the stout is pretty aggressively bourbon forward. I don't get a ton of barrel characteristics...oak, vanilla, toasted coconut. But I do get a ton of bourbon. Perhaps this was put into pretty wet barrels. The base stout is nice with chocolate and a roasty character. I'm left wanting with the mouthfeel which is not as thick as I would like for a big barrel aged stout. Overall enjoyable if not very complex and coming through a bit thin on the palate.
