Afterburner, our flagship American IPA intensified with more malt, more hops, and coming in at 9.0% ABV, was brewed for Hayburner’s biggest fans. This imperial IPA is best described as a citrus bomb, with huge orange flavor and aroma, yet still possessing Hayburner’s classic bitter edge, alcohol bite, and excellent drinkability.

Can purchased from Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a clear golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like melon, mango, marijuana, pine, and grapefruit.
This isn’t necessarily better than Hayburner, but it’s still nice to see one of my favorite local IPAs get roided out a bit here. It’s a touch maltier than Hayburner is, but not excessively so, with a nice melon, pineapple fruit cup, and caramelized grapefruit juicy hop character, along with resinous pine and distinct marijuana note.
This is medium bodied, pretty drinkable, with a zesty bitterness on the finish.
Hayburner will always be near and dear to my heart, so I’m always interested in new versions of it.
