One of the 24 in my Beer Advent calender. Has the looks of a wit for sure.
Taste is there, definitely more Belgian than an American take on the style.
No great shakes, but as previously mention still very cool to be able to try one from French Guiana. I'd rather drink several of these cold than some bland lager if I was trying to beat the heat in Cayenne...

This poured a translucent straw like colour with a thick foamy white head. There is some citrus in the nose, mandarin oranges and pineapple with some bread and yeast on the edges. There was some hop bitterness in the taste as well as a bit of lemon and bread. It ended very quickly almost too quick making it had to ascertain the specific flavours. It would rate a bit higher if it didn't finish so watery, but I can image having a couple of these in the warm humid air of Cayenne.

If my review was based strictly on flavor (as opposed to the overall experience), it would be lower. However, this is a beer from An exotic country, named after an exotic animal. How COOL is that? It's a decent Wit - not my favorite style, but this is far from the worst Wit I've experienced. Once again, thank you Advent Calendar for a unique beer experience.

Day 18 of BeerAdvent Calendar.
Bottle had noticeable chunky sediment on the bottom and had some around the outside of the bottle under the cap.
Pours a hazy straw colour with lots of fluffy white head that disappears and leave a little lacing.
Nose is very odd. I get lots of pepper, some Belgian yeast, and something I don't like and can't place.
Taste is also odd. Lots of pepper along with a subtle Belgian yeast flavour.
I'm not sure what to make of this beer.

A nice citrusy wit, without the coriander.

330ml bottle, day 18 of the 2014 Craft Beer Advent calendar, and my first French Guianese brew (wait while I Google Map that - ah yes, _that_ French Guiana).
This beer pours a hazy, yet bright pale golden straw colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, tightly foamy, and mildly creamy bone-white head, which leaves but a minor amount of barren islet lace in places around the glass as it genially recedes.
It smells of grainy pale and wheaty malt, acrid orange zest, earthy yeast, a further lemon and lime fruitiness, some weak white pepper and clove spice notes, and the suggestion of a hard pharmaceutical astringency. The taste is gritty, grainy wheat chaff, denatured orange juice, plain-Jane Belgian yeast, muddled earthy spice, and a hard to ignore burgeoning melting plastic unpleasantness.
The bubbles are still quite prevalent on my tongue after that opening act, the body on the far lee side of medium weight, and somewhat smooth, a weird airy creaminess arising as it warms. It finishes mostly dry, the grainy wheat, befuddled spices, and now hollow citrus character trying very hard to bid adieu to that fading plastic interloper.
Not a bad brew, overall, especially considering how far and where it has come from, but barely up there with the average examples of the style. Nice, though, to get this country tic [sic], as ticks for it would otherwise be rather difficult to come by. And in the true spirit of the country itself, I'm going to actually finish this - and laissez les bons temps rouler!

330ml bottle poured into tulip 7/10/14
A milky yellow liquid with fast bubbles popping up from everywhere, well sustained finger of foam leaves a few random patches, chunks of yeast at the bottom
S floral, lemon and orange peel, some clove and wheat, not overly complex but hits the typical Wit notes
T a little hard plastic and chemical notes that are hard to place, a little disappointing compared to the nose
M explodes into foam instantly, the style is often well carbonated but this is a little extreme
O starts out well and goes down hill from there, not bad but meh
Stoked to get this country tic, looks like I'm the first BA to tic French Guiana, let the good times roll.
