I randomly picked this one in the shop, as the rest looked boring.
Comes in a 500ml bottle, for 3.59€, not too expensive, but I expect some class for this money, let’s see how it performs.
Top: forms a 2.5” thick, creamy, tan head which will last forever! Not kidding, never seen anything like this, even after 15 minutes there’s a 1/2” left. Unreal.
Colour: cola like. Deep ruby, holding against a light source, seems quite clear.
Smell: now here is what it smells like first, then I tell you what it’s like after a few minutes of decanting.
1. Smokey malts, lovely yeast, hints of coffee and raw cane sugar. Lovely.
2. Smells like a great porter and a LOT of homemade strawberry jam. Interesting and inviting.
Taste:
1. Roasted malts, some grains, little fruitiness and a massive bomb of bittering hops to finish it off, basically feels like a triple hopped stout, it’s kinda like a “best of both” deal. Decent kick of bitterness, dry finish, medium body and light+ carbonation. Feels stronger than the 6.5% ABV would suggest on the bottle, I’d believe 8%, if I wouldn’t know.
2. After 5 minutes of decanting and warming up it develops complexity, it gets much smoother and absolutely balanced. Signs of berries come forward, the whole beer changes to a more IPA-like character, while still maintaining the decent malty backbone and most of the stout-like qualities. Lasting strawberry and smoked malts in the aftertaste, fantastic. Yum.
Summary: now this was a pleasant surprise, it truly is an excellent black IPA, definitely top 3 from what I’ve had so far. I, for one, am absolutely amazed with its changing character, will definitely buy again, an absolute steal at this price. One bottle per evening tho, it’s stronger than you think. Don’t miss out on this one, made it to my all time Top 10. My tip: don’t overchill, start drinking at 14 Celsius degrees and let it warm as you go.

Average enough for me. Just not such a fan of IPA beers. Seems well liked by IPA fans, so don't take my rating to heart. Extremely hoppy which I don't particularly like but I know others would be all over that.

Excellent black IPA. Really enjoyed it. Could not fault it so the rating is a high one. Triple hopped they say and in tribute to the legendary motorbike Black Lightening 1952.
