Clear, golden body; nice carbonation; thick, frothy, white head. Very nice aroma; bready malt mingling with some grassy and spicy hop notes. Rich, malty taste; toasty; light caramel; zesty spicy character; light peppery quality; mild to moderate bitterness. Medium body; rich and smooth; crisp.

This beer brings excellent balanced and rich flavors to the palate.

Pouring temperature: 49 °F; canning info: SAAZ AND PRAYERS

16oz can

Pours 3 fingers of dense, pillowy white head into my pilsner glass. Body might just be a hair darker than pale yellow. Medium amount of bubbles coming up, somewhat surprising given the nucleative glass, and style, could definitely be higher. Head retention so far is above average, after close to 5 minutes, 1 finger remains. Initial lacing looks good. Good looking beer so far.

Nose is very aromatic for the style. Fresh cut grass, clean malts, slightly sweet. Does settle down after a few sniffs. Simple, but very well done.

Flavor is much the same, maybe slightly less flavor than aroma. Not a whole lot of grass or noble hop flavor. Just very simple from beginning to end, not very sweet at all, finishes with a little hop bitterness. Even for the style, I would like a tad more flavor complexity. Overall very good though.

Mouthfeel is quite dry; not uncommon, but usually there is a little sweetness to balance, I don’t mind too much though. Carbonation is just about medium, maybe a hair below. Body is certainly very light, but actually has a little bit of weight to it considering it’s a pils. Bitterness is small, but unchallenged, and present, especially in the finish. Overall, perhaps slightly off style with the dryness, carbonation, and body, but just by a hair, and it’s so small that it’s probably just what I’m used to. Again, not a problem here.

Drinkability is very high, it’s clean, tasty, and light.

The appearance turned out very nice. A little bit of head hung around the entire way down. Lacing was thick from top to bottom. Great looking beer.

Overall a very nice pilsner. Mouthfeel had a little more character than the flavor, but overall it’s very well done.

On tap at Holy Mountain Brewing in Seattle, WA.

This one pours a dark golden color, clear, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like crisp grassy hops, slight mineral finish, and light malt.

This is a super top notch version of the style- I'm always happy to see US Brewers get it right. It's got a crisp biting hoppiness, and a soft rolling malt character- slightly sweet but mostly bready. There's a slight mineral finish that's really interesting.

This is light bodied and really crisp, with a good level of carbonation.

Holy Mountain is an utterly fantastic brewery- there's clearly a ton of skill involved in a beer like this.

Rating this one to style, which isn't really the norm. 0 beers in this style, so I cheated and read the description while rating. Pours an extremely light yellow that is clear af. On the smell and taste, not much to write home about, and knocking the taste a bit as I didn't pick up any hop flavors(could be that I'm used to IPA hop bombs too). Smooth, crisp and clean finish are perfect descriptions of this beer, so I am copy and pasting from the site. Overall I liked the beer. I am hitting the submit button after saying that if I rated this beer more "normal" it would probably be b/w 4-4.25, as it is an easy and refreshing beer.

Clear pale straw color with a fluffy disc of foam on top that refused to dissipate. Gorgeous uniform lacing. This is about as perfect as a pilsner appearance can get.

Spicy and earthy nose. Prominent grain and bread notes.

The distinct spice and herbal aspects of noble hops shine here. Lightly grassy. Bread and grain again. Incredibly clean.

Medium bodied with lowish carbonation. Slightly slick. Big, juicy finish.

Solid pilsner. I could see this being a go-to if I were in the state of Washington.

There are many passable pilsners out there. Some really good ones. But few that really surprise and impress. This is one of my favorites. Was a bit darker in color than expected ... the only quibble I have. The nose was bready, faintly sweet, spicy and herbal. Fresh and distinct. While it seems to me that many use Czech and German interchangeably on pilsners this fell into the flavor and feel that I associate more with Czech - more hop character, a bit rounder / fuller in feel than straight crisp. If only this was a regular can offering.
