this is simple hoppy beer at its finest, i was shocked to not see it rated higher here after having it be one of the standouts from our visit to the brewery. there isnt a whole lot going on here, justs a pale malt base with a little more body than most, but quite dry and also soft feeling, a perfect base for what must be a pretty heavy dose of simcoe hops, they are here in all their glory, almost wet tasting to me, highly aromatic, and sort of oily and saturated for such an easy drinking glass of beer. i thought this one was awesome! the simcoe gets set up perfectly by this mild malt base and then it runs. grapefruit abounds in the nose with a little sweeter orange to match the zesty bitter, and there is such an obvious freshness here. the flavor matches the nose, straight citrus, very northwestern and familiar, but this is like the simcoe i have always known on steroids, and even without a particular bitter bite to finish it, it seems like one of the better expressions of this hop i have encountered in some time. gorgeous golden hoppy slammer, a highlight from our visit to this awesome little brewery!
