An IPA with Pilsner malt, two row and a generous portion of malted spelt, Heavenless was hopped throughout with Vic Secret, Motueka and Citra and once again through our hopback with whole leaf Citra. It was fermented with one of our favorite British strains and then dry-hopped with more Vic Secret, Motueka and Citra.

This one pours a slightly hazy but not overly so orange, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells quite piney, almost West Coast-y, but with a bit more juice to it.

This has lots of pineapple and mango to it, but there’s a really nice piney and resinous finish to it.

This is light bodied, crisp, slightly creamy, and really drinkable.

I really enjoy how easy it is to get Holy Mountain beers shipped to me these days.

16oz can

Pours about two fingers of dense white head into my willi becher glass. Retention is above average, head lasts for nearly five minutes, and settles down to a very substantial film after that. Initial lacing looks great. I was hoping this wasn’t a hazy, as it does not specify on the can; alas it clearly is, or not so clearly, pun intended. Body is slightly darker than your average hazy. Murky and almost brownish. Overall looks good so far.

Nose is loaded with mango and papaya. Citrus rind. Not very dank, maybe just slightly. Smells creamy and very inviting. One of the better hazy noses I’ve smelled in a while, though dank hops are never unwelcome. While it is very pleasant, it isn’t all that unusual from the norm.

Flavor is much more citrus forward than tropical. Bitterness is assertive, but doesn’t seem to be backed up with too much hop complexity, which is strange because it’s usually the opposite in this style. A tiny bit of dankness in the finish. There really just isn’t a lot going on here, it’s a little lackluster.

Body is noticeably creamy and chewy, which is nice, but contrasts the flavor quite a bit. Carbonation is quite low, which I guess is appropriate given the body, but is borderline too low regardless. Bitterness is very present for a hazy. Not a bad mouthfeel, but kinda all over the place for a hazy, and doesn’t work too well overall.

Drinkability isn’t bad, despite the lack of flavor, it’s not a bad beer.

Appearance turned out very nice. Thick lacing all the way down the glass.

Overall not really sure where all the flavor went here, but that’s the main issue. Backed up by a questionable mouthfeel, this could be better.

L - massive yellowish head atop a dark yellow body.

S - raisinettes, sour orange candies, pineapple.

T - oranges, bread, pine. Sourness is very present. Some pine, resin. Medium bitterness. Low sweetness. Medium-low booziness.

F - medium body and carb.

O - not sure what this was like fresh, but it has morphed into an interesting sour ipa that maintains its bitterness.
