Holy Mountain Brewing Company - Interbay Brewery + Taproom

a blended barrel aged mixed fermentation brew aged on carmenere grape pomace, really heady stuff, and given my recent penchant for grape saisons and wild beers, this one really struck a chord with me, really a beautiful beer, and to score some holy mountain on tap was a treat! this has a pinkish reddish color to it, maybe orange in the right light a little too, lightly shiny, short patchy head but nice and fizzy in the glass anyway, and with a lovely aroma of tart tannic grape skins, mouthwatering lemony lactic pucker, and tropical fruity dry hopping, pineapple and clean citrus to me, lots going on, as much fruitiness from the hops as the grape element itself, funky as it is sour, really captivating. more brett than sourness in the flavor, really funky and mature, lots of oak too, highly vinous, tannic, almost gritty, dry for being fruity like this, and the hops do a lot here, compliment the grape aspect in an almost fruit punch sort of way, funky fruit punch, really good. not sure i could call out the grape varietal if i didnt know, but i love what it does here, hints of cocktail cherry, hibiscus, and pomegranate. love the fermentation profile, and this is an awesome blend overall. great stuff, another winner in this style from holy mountain, i love what they do!
