i swear to god this might be the best holy mountain beer ive ever had, which as we all know, is really saying something pretty serious about it. a blend of entirely oak fermented wheat beers that were aged in barrels previously containing a peach beer they made, and with riesling juice added, then refermented in the bottle with brett, my heavens! huge thanks to my friend for picking it up and being so willing to share, i am blessed. it pours a beautifully sparking clear light orange to brassy color with a tall and lasting shaving cream thick white head, looks stunning. the nose is pear and white wine before its peach to me, although sweet and summery through the super mature funk, oak, and tang, riesling specifically seems obvious, but there are other nuances here too, light vanilla from the wood, an almost lambic funk, the wheat still relatively in tact, its insane. the flavor brings an astounding amount of fresh peach to the mix, and has me dying to try the beer that came out of these barrels for the first time! someday. the peach here is drippy and ripe and real, and the peach and the grape juice together is just decadent, even without much sweetness. it does get a little more sour as it warms, even some white balsamic vinegar creeping in, but its all flavor not just acid for the sake of it, and it doesnt slow me down much. the complexity here is absurd, unrivaled even, and the level of refinement brilliant. the brett in the bottle dries this out even more, makes the fruit pop with horsey funk, and gives it an almost champagne texture, all the while the wheat malt is there too. a super clever idea executed to perfection, not many like this in the game, thats for sure. an early beer of the year candidate for me...
