Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: yellow hue with a moderate haze and a finger of frothy eggshell foam atop. Pretty much what I expect out of the style -- looks good.

Smell: hoppy and wheaty and ever so slightly funky. I'm not sure if the funk is intended here, but I like it. The hops have an herbal, earthy quality to them. It's a nice package.

Taste: those earthy, herbal hops, combined with a clear funkitude; the wheatiness of the malt isn't really strong enough for these other elements. There is indeed a bit of a grassy element here, lending the name some verity. I don't know if this beer is supposed to taste this way, but whatever the cause, it is working for me.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a strong carbonation and a good creaminess.

Overall: is this a "wheat beer" as the label says? Is this an accidental saison? Who knows. But it's yummy.

Pours a nearly clear pale yellow with sticky foam in the Timmermans goblet. Quite lush and sudsy on the tongue. Light aroma of herbs and straw. Taste is tangy citrus with an earthy and peppery finish. Modest but lingering bitter aftertaste.

Quite quaffable, but also austere. This is described as a "hoppy wheat ale." Then it was "mash-hopped with whole-leaf Loral, then hopped in the kettle and tank with a heavy hand of Motueka and Citra." From the 16 oz can purchased at Garden Path. No date.
