Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. There’s a stamp on the bottom that might be a date, but it’s illegible.
Appearance: darkish golden hue with plenty of haze and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam atop. Definitely on the richer/darker end of the IPA spectrum.
Smell: sweet malt with a light tropical fruit character going on; passionfruit is what jumps out at me the most. There’s a bit of a dankness here too, and some notes of citrus. It’s nicely complex.
Taste: kind of an earthy guava/passionfruit thing going on, with, again, a hint of dankness. There’s not a lot of brightness, so I can’t really call it “juicy”, but it’s a good balance with the sweetness. Bitterness is moderately high — even with the fruitiness, it’s definitely not a NEIPA. A solid beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess for the style.
Overall: I am digging this beer — perhaps it’s even growing on me. The earthiness appeals to my palate.
