The beer is black with a thin head and no carbonation. No alcohol scent on the nose but a nice toasty scent followed by fruity hops. Very well balanced with a nice sweet toasty malt flavor with a lingering bitterness of hops.

On tap at Rok House Brewing Company in Upland, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thick swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, and slight citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, and slight cocoa powder flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop and roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that has more of a focus on the citrus aspects versus the roast ones.
Serving type: on tap.
