Poured into a MacAndrew's thistle glass. Pours a dark reddish orange with a one finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of biscuit and caramel malt, mild molasses, plums and dates; a hint of smoke. Flavor is dark biscuit malt with a hint of caramel, dates, plums, tart cherry and peaty malt. Lingering peaty Scotch finish with a little cherry tartness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. This one has some really authentic Scotch (as in the high test stuff) peaty smoke along with the requisite slight iodine notes. The malt has the character of a wee heavy, but with somewhat lighter malt depth and an unusual cherry note. I liked this, but wished for a bit more malt depth, because it has among the best peaty smoke I've tasted in this style, but it was a bit stark in the finish. Close to most excellent.
