Mad Horse Brewery

A small brewery nestled into the upper reaches of northern Virginia in the tiny town of Lovettsville. Has a cozy pub feel with lots of hardwoods, ample space, stone, barrels and a few TVs. Nice dim lighting for atmosphere. Food is fairly basic. Fries, nachos, pretzels and the like. Nothing notable. The beer is the real issue here. It's mediocre. Each beer smells vaguely of mildew, which I'm assuming is a glassware issue. Styles are not particularly well executed. The beer is served way too cold which makes it impossible to get much of a nose on anything. I had a Dunkel that had a tart green apple taste. A Porter and a Stout with a listless flavor profile. Decent Vienna Lager and Strawberry Wit. The one staff was attentive and quick with the order. The beer is just utterly forgettable, each one having a similar flavor profile and lacking distinction.

 

 

Opened this place up at noon on a Sunday. Ok bar and dining area. Vibe is lacking but Lovettsville, VA isn't exactly a beer mecca or anything. Got a buffalo chicken sandwich and fries which were both decent.

Beers. Well, I got a flight of 6 and all were just avg. for style.

Not worth going out of your way to visit but if your in the area, its ok enough a place to stop in.
