12 ounce can, 151117 stamped on the bottom of the can. I'm guessing November 17th, 2015 was the canning date but I don't know for sure. I just know they've started selling this year's batch so I don't think it's much older than that. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like roasted malt, raisins/dark fruit, oats and a bit of coffee. For the most part I think the taste is the same as the aroma, but there's also a bit of chocolate, grainy malt and light earthy hops noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this stout, I think it's definitely worth a try. $11.99 a 6-pack.

 

 

Taster at brewery. Dark brown pour, off-white ring of head. Light roasty, malty, smoky aroma. Mild sweet notes, silky, hint of oatmeal, chocolate, toast.

On tap at the Land-Grant Columbus, OH Airport location.

A - Pitch black pour with thin caramel colored lacing.

S - Dark chocolate malt char with a slight bit of raisin and spice on the nose.

T - Dark chocolate roast from start to finish with lingering chocolate char after the sip. Chocolate toasty sweetness in the middle and roasty bitterness on the back side.

M - Medium body with a little thinness around edges.

O - Lots of roasty goodness in this beer with lingering flavor.

 

 

 

 

Pours a dark brown with full khaki head. Scent is sweet from the raisin and roasted malt. Taste starts out sweet and roasty, but morphs into more bitter roast on the back end. My guess is it must be hops. Full mouthfeel and an aftertaste that is bittersweet

 

Description: Color is a deep, dark brown and the beer pours smoothly with no head and a glassy appearance. Smell is roasty with some sweetness and dark fruit, although overall it's pretty muted. As to be expected, the taste is malty and roasted with some sweetness - sort of like the aroma - with stronger notes of dark fruit and a little bitterness on the finish. Feel is nice - pretty smooth and velvety with a medium-heavy body and low carbonation.

Overall: 4 (This beer is good and I may or may not drink it again) Not bad. Not great, but not bad. There are certainly better stouts out there but for an oatmeal stout this is appropriate and drinkable. I wouldn't necessarily seek it out, but wouldn't scoff at it either.

 

 

 

 

 

From the can in a snifter. This very nice holiday stout pours a nice
blackish brown with a nice head of off white foam that subsides to a thin
ring, thin wispy pool, and features nice light lacing. Nose of cocoa, raisin,
brown sugars, and subtle herbal spice notes from hops. Flavors follow the
nose with cocoa and dark mulled raisins with brown sugars and a light herbal
hop note on the rear of the taste that lingers to a light bitterness. Nice mouth feel;
medium light body, smoothness from the oats, lightly creamy, and a lingering bitter
malt and subtle hop aftertaste. Overall a decent little brew.
