I got this off the single shelf from my local Giant Eagle. It poured an opaque dark with off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had faint peat and earthy notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with chocolate and peat presence. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

Pours a very dark brown almost black, very slight light brown lacing. On the nose get a lot of malty roasted coffee, a bit of chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet, toasty coffee and chocolate, with a lingering after taste of licorice. Medium carbonation, great depth of taste all the way to the finish, definitely coats the mouth and tongue This is an excellent porter, very full bodied, great taste profile.

Draft, mini snifter.
A:dark, dark brown/ black - some light comes through. Great off white lacing (2018) sandy lacing, 2017.
S: dark, sweet, roasty malt, hint of cherry-like sweetness (2018), the 2017 is smokier, more medicinal hop.
T: chickow! Tastes shockingly like an RIS. Sweet, malty, slight lager yeastiness, roast, molasses, lingering mild medicinal hop. Awesome.
M: full-bodied, but with a lager cleanness. Lingering sweet maltiness. More hop lingers on the 2017.
O: really awesome winter beer. Dark, sweet, malty, drinkable. This does not have the lingering roast of an RIS, or the slickness. Very tasty, could drink this regularly in the winter.

Pours jet black, some faint ruddy brown light penetration around the edges, with a tan film for a head.
Smells of roasted coffee, cocoa, and licorice.
Flavor is of cocoa, licorice, coffee, burnt oak, toast, and a dry wooden hop finish.
Full body with stinging carbonation on the tongue.
Very good smokey porter, lots of good roast and wood in this. If that's you're thing, you won't be disappointed. I don't see this style too often so it's nice to see someone do a good job with it.

A fantastic new brewery from Columbus! Deep Search baltic pours from the can into a snifter with a firm thick tan head of fine beaded foam that settles to a thick ring, nice pool, and EXCELLENT lacing. Nose of coffee, chocolate, light char and deep roasted malts, and sweet cream. Flavors follow the nose with deeply roasted malts that are subtly char touched on all sides, medium roast coffee and dark bakers chocolate on the middle and back, and light cream notes on the sides. Nice mouth feel, slick and coating with light carbonation and a lightly bitter malt and dark cocoa aftertaste that satisfies. Overall----exceptional! Can't wait to try more from these guys. Purchased from Jungle Jim's. A GREAT find from a new brewery.
