Stamp on the bottom of the 12oz can says 170717. So not sure if it is June 19 or July of 17. I am guessing the later because the store just recently got them.
It is a very dark copper. Almost bronze. A pretty decent, frothy cream colored head, but it doesn't last long. The remaining ring clings to the glass a bit.
It smells like toasted dark bread crusts with a lot of grain. Also a bit of spice and citrus.
A nice spicy kick and a bunch of deep, dark, bready rye malt flavor right off the bat followed by some grapefruit rind and a lingering bitterness and lemon-grapefruit citrus.
Body is a solid medium and average carbonation.
If you are looking for the rye, you won't have to try hard to find it. A little bit simple overall, but really well done.

tap
Pours a hazy amber, eggshell film for a head with good retention.
Smells of rye bread, hemp, and a piney hop undertone.
Flavor is of hemp, honey malts, and a pine hop finish.
Medium body with stinging carbonation on the tongue.
Adequately good rye ale, decent flavor and aroma and a nice pour. Nothing super special, but overall good and will hit the spot if you're craving a rye ale. The rye isn't as forward as some others I've had, though.

On par with one of my favorite rye IPA's, (Founder's Reds Rye IPA). Best and freshest experience when enjoyed on tap in their nice and spacious tap room on W. Town St. in Columbus.
