Sometimes a well brewed cup of coffee isn’t quite enough on its own. Sometimes a well brewed glass of beer needs a little something extra to push it over the top. Both benefit from a warming dose of whiskey. For that reason we brewed this hearty Irish Coffee Stout with Stauf’s whiskey-barrel-aged coffee beans, creating a compound of smooth chocolaty stout, roasted coffee, and rich, smoky whiskey. So when you’re craving a beer, a coffee, or a whiskey, might as well make yours Irish.

12oz can, date stamp 2022-02-16. Split with the Mrs. in 0.2l Rastel Bitburger Pokal Glasses.
Appearance: Dark brown, but it does let some light through and when held up to the light there is some definite ruby red color to this beer. Thin white head with some strands of lacing noted. Surprisingly little persistent foam for a stout.
Smell: Milk chocolate and coffee beans with a tiny hint of whiskey.
Taste: Tastes a lot like it smells, but the chocolate notes are deeper/stronger, and the coffee brings a bit more black coffee bitterness. The roasted malt is somewhat noticeable as well, and there is a hint of vanilla and lactose in all of this as well. Not getting any whiskey flavor though.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, light carbonation, creamy, a little sticky on the teeth.
Overall / Drinkability: A very nice take on an stout which does have a bit of that Irish cream added to coffee taste to it. I'm not getting that much smoky whiskey at all, but it's quite tasty and fits the bill nicely of an American Imperial Stout. Easily drinkable and I would not mind another.

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local Giant Eagle store. It poured an opaque dark with off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had subtle roast and marshmallow notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle chocolate, caramel and coffee presence with creme brulee flare. The mouthfeel is medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black; creamy khaki head that fades leaving decent retention and lacing. The aromas have a subtle blend of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Some roasted characteristics. Malts are there. The flavors are bold and slightly rich. The coffee really comes through. Some Irish cream. Some milk sugars. Lots of dark chocolate. Mild hints of whiskey and oak, but that's coming from the coffee beans. This beer isn't barrel-aged. This beer is bittersweet. There's an interesting spiciness in the finish, but it's extremely mild and basically goes unnoticed. It probably comes from the whiskey or there's possibly some eye in the mix. Malts do their thing. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, slightly creamy and very smooth.
This is a great stout. They nailed the Irish coffee characteristics. It's bold but balanced. The craftsmanship is on point. They did a really nice job with this. Well done. I really like it.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter----BIG thanks to Bluejacket74 for this one!
This surprise brew pours a deep and murky blackish brown with
thin cola highlights and a nice head of off white foam that settles to
a thick ring, thin layer, and shows nice lacing. Nose of coffee, chocolate,
char, cream, and faint whiskey notes. Flavors crank up on the volume
with an excellently balanced brew! Dark chocolate, rich dark coffee,
light oak, subtle peat, subtle whiskey, vanilla, dark fruit, and sweet
cream. Excellent mouth feel; full body, smooth as silk, lightly coating,
lightly slick, low carbonation, and a rich bitter malt and char driven finish
that is extremely well balanced for being a sweeter stout.
Overall-----one of the best brews I have had this year!
Cheers

12 ounce can, looks like it says canned on 2020-02-13. Label says 8.4% ABV. Served in a Land Grant pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch frothy tan head. Head retention and lacing are both very good. The brew smells like coffee, roasted malt, whiskey, chocolate and caramel. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the sweeter flavors being the strongest to me. Whiskey and oak character is noticeable but not overpowering. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and a bit slick with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this a lot, definitely recommend this one especially if you like sweeter tasting stouts and/or coffee beers.
