Thanks to Redhawk Poke for this one, from NBS BIF #12. 16oz bottle poured into 12oz tulip. Poured the expected solid black color of the style, with just a thin cap of tan head that dissipated very quickly and left no lacing.
The aroma was dominated by bourbon, and some barrel, with the base beer underneath. The raspberries had a low presence.
Similar on the tongue, but the berries took on a larger role. The bourbon remained strong.
The body was a touch on the thin side for the style, was smooth, and had a semi-sweet finish.
Drinkability was very nice, a smooth and even sipper.
Overall, a pretty nice brew. Grab one if you see it.
