This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a fairly dark brown color with a thin cap of an off white foamy head that dissipated to leave just a rim of concave lace. The aroma had a great blend of roasty coffee beans with a sweet milk and dark chocolates combining to round out with a slight vanilla bean. Robust edges of a black licorice far underneath, but just the sweet tones of it. The flavor leads with the coffee and then soft edges of milk and dark chocolate. Black licorice is barely there. Full aftertaste of milk chocolate and coffee bean. Delicate semi-dry finish of coffee beans. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV seems a tad under than what’s projected, but I’m okay with that. Overall, extremely nice imperial stout that I would love to have again.
