Deep, dark and distinctive, Lowlands Clan is named after the brewing local of Scotland. With a sparing use of peated malt and a meaty, robust barley profile, this beer has all the maltyness one looks for in Fall.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a wine glass.
L - Dark brown is opaque but shows clear, mahogany highlights at the edges when held up to the light. Tan colored head is sparse, but makes strong sheets of lacing on the glass.
S - Very nice malt aromas. Low coffee, roasted grains, smoke, faint licorice. No obvious hops or yeast, which is spot-on for the style.
T - Malt is dominant. All the aromas are repeated in the flavors, and I also get molasses. Hops may be there as a low earthy note. Finish is drier than might expected after the sweet malt entry.
F - Medium to heavy body, as is appropriate. Carbonation is low, but contributes to a creamy feel. Low to medium hops bitterness keeps the malt sweetness at bay. Moderate alcohol presence is surprisingly light for the ABV.
O - This is an excellent example of the style. It hits all the right notes and pulls it all together into a very enjoyable scotch ale.
