Like a bear hug of bold flavors, this grizzly beast is the biggest Comrade yet. An enveloping wave of hefty roast nodding toward savory umami flavors stands proud against a sweet Whiskey kiss from an extended aging period on oak. It's good to see you, old friend.

Tasted on tap as part of a vertical tasting with other vintages at the "Comrade Day" special release party at the brewery in Feb 2020.
Little head. Mushrooms and soy sauce blend with whiskey in nose. Flavors of the same, with a slight odd soapy note that could be from hops or astringent roasted grains. Overall a bit strange. Hopefully it will mellow and improve with age to be more like the other excellent vintages I tried.
