Appearance - Pours a rose gold with three fingers of frothy white head.
Smell - Belgian yeast, spicy hops, stone fruit (nectarine, peach, apricot), floral hibiscus notes, biscuity malts.
Taste - Tart and tangy stone fruit followed by the spicy Belgian yeast and hops. Hibiscus is lightly floral and not too overpowering. Some lingering hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate-to-high carbonation. Bubbly effervescence on the palate.
Overall - A well constructed stone fruit saison that showcases the marriage of a fruit ale and a saison. I liked that the stone fruit flavours were natural and the elements of the saison blended cohesively. This is a stand out of a saison and kudos goes out to the folks at Old Yale for creating a very unique and enjoyable brew.
