650ml bottle - the usual case, I get some of a BC brewery's offerings from a friend over there a little while ago, and now they're available here in Alberta.
This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, rocky, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves a bit of roiling sea cauldron lace around the glass as it quickly subsides.
It smells of bready and crackery pale malt, a certain musty and phenolic yeastiness, and very, very subtle earthy and dead leafy hop bitters - not feeling too chipper right about now. The taste is grainy and bready pale malt, a lesser white crackery thing, some white wine lees, ethereal generic citrus flesh, a touch of chalky flintiness, and more rather shy-seeming leafy, weedy, and somewhat floral hoppiness.
The carbonation is decently rendered in its mildly swirling frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, nothing really kicking about that might mess around here. It finishes off-dry, the still yeast-tinged malt contending only with a fading wan fruitiness.
Overall, Moody's blonde ale comes across as typical for the style, very malty and with a sense of wayward son yeastiness. Not my favourite thing to drink, but easy enough to put back, once begrudgingly acclimated to the lack of hoppy offset, I suppose.

L: Gold colour, crystal clear with thin white head
S: White bread, cracker, subtle honey notes, slight spicy hop aroma
T: Crisp, clean, bready, slightly sweet, not much bitterness
F: Medium-light body, great carbonation level, slight lingering sweetness on the palate
O: Above average blonde ale, worth a try, more on the malty side but enough hop presence to keep things balanced

Chipper Blonde Ale - 5.5% 26 IBU - pours a nice golden colour with a thin white head that dissipates fairly quickly but leave a nice lacing. The nose is fairly mild, some citrus notes and maltiness. The taste brings forward a bit of yeastiness, grass, wheat, hop and spice in the finish. There is also a bit of bitterness in the end. It has a nice medium mouthfeel. A nice beverage.

I am not normally a fan of lighter beers however one sip of Moody's Chipper Blonde and I knew I was drinking a well made, quality light ale.
Very crisp...almost like a champagne with citrus tones. I can see this being great in the summer and eaten with wings or pizza. It's an ale that can be easily enjoyed.
