Quarantine day fifty four: I crossed state lines to buy $102.98 worth of beer this afternoon. Because. This not included. I don’t remember where this came from. 16 oz. can.

Black, with a miniature head that collapses faster than the second season of Altered Carbon. The nose is a salt shaker spilled on your face. While you’re doing a handstand. Not much else. I like salt.

Morbidly Obese Pug – Salted Caramel Brownie is one more cause of my encroaching carpal tunnel syndrome. The overbearing nose retreats, leaving subtle rye, semi-sweet chocolate, with a healthy shot of caramel once the beer is put under the heat lamp for a bit. Sweet vanilla on the finish, with a smooth, smooth, smooth mouthfeel that contributes to an easy-living drinkability.

Maplewood chose to go old-school here, with a subtle-as-an-angry wizard approach at odds with the current trend of moremoremoremoremore pastry stouts. Very good beer rubbing shoulders with excellent.

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from draft at Consume on November 8, 2019. This years recipe includes a lot of rye for flavor and body. The resulting stout is a perfect base for all the gooey goodies added. The addition of caramel, salt, chocolate and vanilla make this Pug a perfect pastry stout.
